SENATOR Joel Villanueva submitted his counter-affidavit Friday, January 23, in response to a malversation complaint linked to a flood control project in Bulacan.

The filing came ahead of the extended January 26 deadline granted by the panel of prosecutors after his motion for extension was approved on January 20.

“Filing was ahead of the preliminary investigation hearing scheduled on Monday, January 23,” DOJ spokesperson Attorney Polo Martinez said.

Villanueva faces three of six ongoing cases involving Wawao Builders and Topnotch Catalyst Builders, Inc., all under preliminary investigation.

Martinez added that the complaints are expected to be submitted for resolution within the month.
