FOLLOWING a year-long hiatus, veteran spiker Eya Laure is set to make her Premier Volleyball League comeback after officially signing with Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
The Flying Titans started the year with an announcement that shook up the league, winning Eya Laure’s sweepstakes as they confirmed the spiker’s acquisition on New Year’s Day as part of the team’s continuous roster development just weeks ahead of the upcoming PVL All-Filipino Conference later this month.
The 5-foot-10 outside hitter last saw action with Chery Tiggo Crossovers, eventually opting out for a contract buyout with the team before the 2024–25 season, which caused her to sit out of the PVL for over a year because of contractual restrictions.
Despite being sidelined in the PVL, Laure remained active on the court playing for the Alas Pilipinas national volleyball team. Eya served as one of the key contributors for Alas in their string of medal finishes in the second half of last year. She was part of the national team that made history after winning a silver medal in the AVC Nations Cup in Vietnam last June.
Laure also made her presence felt in the Alas’ back-to-back bronze wins in the SEA V.League. She then ended the year as part of the national team that competed in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand, which barely missed out on a podium finish after falling short against Indonesia in the bronze medal match.
With all that into account, it is safe to say that Laure has kept her competitive form intact and ready for her return in the country’s leading volleyball league.
The 26-year-old spiker is expected to provide extra scoring prowess and bolster the Flying Titans’ offensive versatility.
She will be reunited with her former University of Santo Tomas teammate, Sisi Rondina, a prolific 1-2 punch for the championship-seeking Choco Mucho squad. Together with Rondina, Laure will also be reconnecting with Alina Bicar and Caitlin Viray. The four are members of the historic UST Golden Tigresses that reached the UAAP Season 81 finals in 2019.
In an unexpected turn of events, Laure will also be playing with the former Ateneo Lady Eagles — Maddie Madayag, Kat Tolentino, and Deanna Wong, the core of the team that defeated them in the said finals. Now playing for one team, they will spearhead Choco Mucho’s campaign back to PVL glory.
After a strong showing in the previous season, where they made two All-Filipino Conference finals appearances, the Flying Titans missed the playoffs in the remainder of 2025, failing to reach the knockout round in both the PVL On Tour and Reinforced Conference.
The 9th PVL All-Filipino Conference will officially start on January 30, 2026.
