THE Philippines’ undeniable beauty attracted foreign tourists once again!

For the 11th TripZilla Excellence Awards, the Philippines is recognized multiple times — best dive destination, best retirement destination, and destination of the year in the whole of Asia.

According to TripZilla, the Philippines is “a diver’s dream come true” having some of the world’s “most spectacular underwater wonders.” Specifically mentioned were the whale sharks of Donsol and the colorful coral reefs of Tubbataha.

“Diving here promises unforgettable encounters and breathtaking beauty, making it one of the world’s top diving destinations,” TripZilla said on their website.

Foreign retirees also prefer settling down in the Philippines because of the Filipinos’ “strong sense of community.”

Among the things retirees like about the Philippines is its warm climate and affordable cost of living.

“Expats are drawn to its pristine beaches, scenic mountains, and vibrant cities, offering a wide variety of lifestyle choices,” TripZilla said.

The Philippines also bagged the Destination of the Year award, not only because of its beautiful tourist spots, but also because of its preserved history and culture and signature Filipino warmth.

According to TripZilla, “From the historic bustle of Manila and Cebu to the tropical paradise of Palawan’s crystal waters, it’s packed with unforgettable experiences.”

Department of Tourism reacts

The Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Frasco welcomes the recognition given to the Philippines, saying, “This award affirms what the global community increasingly sees—the Philippines is not only a beautiful place to visit, but a place to call home.”

Earlier this year, DOT made moves to enhance the Special Resident Retiree’s Visa (SRRV) program, together with the Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA).

According to PRA General Manager Roberto Zozobrado, they launched the We Create an Amazing Retirement Experience (WE CARE) campaign to encourage more expats to retire in the Philippines.

Based on the DOT’s data, there are more than 83,000 SRRV holders in the country as of this year.
