THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has assured members that 21 essential medicines under its Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) will remain available throughout the year
The assurance was stated in PhilHealth Advisory No. 2026-0007, signed by PhilHealth President and Chief Executive Officer Edwin Mercado on January 14.
“Makakaasa po ang lahat ng Pilipino na patuloy silang makakakuha nitong 21 na mga gamot sa kanilang napiling YAKAP Clinic, habang mas lalo naming pinagbubuti ang mga benepisyo ng PhilHealth YAKAP at GAMOT,” Mercado said over the weekend.
YAKAP is an enhanced primary care benefit package that covers medical consultations, indicated laboratory and cancer screening tests, and prescribed essential medicines. It works alongside the Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment Program (GAMOT).
The medicines available under YAKAP include antibiotics, maintenance drugs, and treatments for common illnesses such as Amoxicillin, Metformin, Losartan, Amlodipine, Paracetamol, Aspirin, and Salbutamol, among others. Members may continue accessing these medicines through their registered YAKAP-accredited clinics.
PhilHealth also reminded its partner YAKAP providers to maintain adequate medicine supplies and uphold service standards under the program.
“Patuloy po ang aming pagsisikap na pagbutihin pa ang paghahatid ng aming serbisyo sa pamamagitan ng patuloy na pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga YAKAP providers upang patuloy pang magkaroon ng kapanagatagan ang lahat ng Pilipinong umaasa sa PhilHealth,” Mercado said.
