The House Ethics Committee on Monday recommended a 60-day suspension for Cavite Fourth District Rep. Kiko Barzaga after finding him guilty of disorderly conduct. The suspension would be without pay and accompanied by a stern warning that repeated misconduct could result in harsher disciplinary action.

The committee also directed Barzaga to remove specific social media posts within 24 hours. The ethics complaint was filed by House Deputy Speaker Ronaldo Puno and members of the National Unity Party, citing alleged misconduct, inciting seditious activity, posting lewd content, and flaunting wealth.

If remembered, Barzaga’s past behavior was marked by several instances of disrespectful and offensive actions, which lawmakers raised serious concerns about his conduct in office.

Barzaga previously stated he was ready to accept any sanction but maintained that he did not violate the House Code of Conduct. Under House rules, disciplinary measures may include censure, reprimand, suspension, or expulsion.
