The human trafficking trial against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy proceeded on Friday in Pasig City court, where the defense finished questioning a key prosecution witness. Quiboloy was present for the proceedings.

The focus was on MMDA General Manager Nicolas Torre III, the ex-Philippine National Police chief who directed Quiboloy’s August 2024 arrest as Davao Region Police Director. Defense lawyer Atty. Israelito Torreon reported contentment with the results, despite the extended duration from various clarifications.

“Masaya kasi natapos yung cross-examination kay General Torre at yung mga kasama ko rin natapos rin yung cross-examination at masaya kami. Yun lang,” said Torreon.

He stated that the team worked to present their account, emphasizing that Quiboloy turned himself in willingly, not under force.

“Kay General Torre kami natagalan, may iba pa sana pero at least yung pinaka importante natanong namin at naclarify,” he said.

“Kailangan namin yun matanong kasi yun ang version namin and I could not elaborate further as to whether or not we are able to prove it,” said Torreon.

Additional witnesses were slated but couldn’t be called due to time limits. Quiboloy avoided in-depth remarks to journalists.

Upon finishing his testimony, Torre indicated his involvement was over.

“Natapos na ang aking testimonya,” said Torre. “Maraming tanong eh, so I need to answer the question, it’s all part of the process,” he added.

Upcoming sessions are scheduled for February 20 and March 5, starting at 1:30 p.m. each day.
