BTS to return to the Philippines nearly a decade later

I remember during my high school years, I listened to K-pop songs—especially BTS, EXO, and other first- and third-generation groups. During the pandemic, I finally had the chance to complete BTS’ discography. But at a time when scammers were rampant on Twitter, I was scammed, and the albums I bought never arrived.

Yet even without the physical albums, BTS remained. In the quiet uncertainty of lockdowns, postponed dreams, and endless days spent online, their music became a constant source of comfort. When everything felt heavy, their songs carried warmth and reassurance. In many ways, BTS became my light.

That light is set to shine brighter once again as BTS officially announced their return to the Philippines in 2027, marking their first full-group visit to the country in a decade. The announcement was revealed late Tuesday by BigHit Music through its X account, sending waves of excitement across the global ARMY community.

According to the announcement, Manila is included in the group’s upcoming world tour, with concert dates scheduled for March 13 and 14, 2027. Live Nation Philippines, in a separate X post, confirmed the Manila stop and said that the exact venue and ticketing details will be announced at a later date.

The world tour will kick off with a three-day concert in Goyang, South Korea in April, before heading to major cities across Asia, Europe, North and South America, and Australia. BigHit Music also shared that additional tour stops, including shows in Japan and the Middle East, will be announced soon.

The tour will support BTS’ fifth studio album, set for release on March 20. The upcoming record marks the group’s first album in nearly four years, following a hiatus from full-group activities that coincided with the members’ mandatory military service in South Korea.

The seven-member group—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—last held a full-group concert in the Philippines in 2017 during their “Wings” tour. While J-Hope returned to Manila in April 2025 for a two-day solo concert as part of his “Hope On The Stage” tour, fans have long waited to see all seven members reunite on a Philippine stage.

BTS’ most recent large-scale tour, “Love Yourself,” concluded in 2019. Their planned 2020 “Map of the Soul” tour was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a turning point that reshaped the global music industry. The group later returned to live audiences through the “Permission to Dance On Stage” concert series from 2021 to 2022, before announcing a temporary group break.

Since debuting in 2013, BTS has risen from a small-company rookie group to a global phenomenon. They are the most-streamed group on Spotify and the first K-pop act to top both the Billboard 200 and Billboard Artist 100 charts. Beyond music, the group has been recognized as influential youth icons, delivering speeches at the United Nations and meeting former U.S. President Joe Biden at the White House to discuss anti-Asian hate crimes.

For Filipino ARMYs, the 2027 Manila concert is more than just another tour stop. It is a reunion years in the making—a moment that bridges the past and the present. It brings together the fans who once could only dream of seeing BTS live, those who supported them through screens during the pandemic, and those who grew up alongside their music.

As ticket details remain forthcoming, one thing is clear: this concert represents hope fulfilled. We manifest that all of us can secure tickets—because the kids who were once just dreaming of seeing BTS are no longer just dreaming. This time, we are ready.
