It is forecasted that the rapid strengthening of Uwan may result in it reaching super typhoon category tonight or tomorrow, Sunday, November 9.
PAGASA warns that as Uwan continues to pass through the Philippine land mass, there is a possibility that the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal warning may be hoisted up to Signal No. 5
The weather bureau also said that based on the track forecast, Uwan may pass near Catanduanes on November 9 and make a landfall over the southern portion of Isabela or northern portion of Aurora by evening of November 9 or early morning of Monday, November 10.
There is also an increasing likelihood that Uwan may have a slight southward shift in its movement, resulting in a direct hit or landfall over the province of Catanduanes.
Uwan is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Tuesday, November 11.
Meanwhile, gale warning is raised over the northern, eastern, and southern seaboards of Luzon, eastern and central seaboards of Visayas, and eastern seaboards of Mindanao.
