4 senators still have not released their SALNs; Mark Villar richest

SENATORS Alan Peter Cayetano, Ronald dela Rosa, Rodante Marcoleta, and Imee Marcos still have not allowed the Senate Secretary to release copies of their Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) to the media.

Of the 20 senators of the 20th Congress who already publicized their SALNs, Senator Mark Villar was ranked the richest with his net worth amounting to P1.26 billion. This consists of his personal properties worth P912.9 million and real properties, including houses, lots, and condominiums, amounting to P349.14 million.

He declared no liabilities and listed Himlay’s Realty Incorporated and Major Asset Ventures Holdings, as his business interests.

Also based on his December 31, 2024 SALN, he has nine relatives holding public office. This include his mother Cynthia and sister Camille in Congress, wife Emmeline Aglipay-Villar as Undersecretary at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and various relatives in local offices in Las Piñas and Muntinlupa cities.

Second richest is Senator Raffy Tulfo with a declared net worth of P1.052 billion, combined with his wife ACT-CIS Representative Jocelyn Tulfo. His net worth includes P376.8 million real properties and P676.1 million personal properties.

He also has no declared liabilities.

Meanwhile, his declared business interests are RW Productions, Inc., Raffy Tulfo in Action Foundation Inc. and Idol Network Philippines Inc.

Aside from his wife, he has declared other relatives holding public office such as his son Ralph who is Quezon City 2nd District Representative and brother Erwin, who, at the time of the filing of SALN, was still a congressman. He also disclosed other relatives as Senate workers and a local chief executive.

The third richest senator is Tulfo’s brother Senator Erwin. However, his net worth is a big jump from the first two, amounting to P497 million. His declared assets are P656.3 million with P159.3 million in liabilities.

Senator Migs Zubiri is a close fourth with P431.7 million net worth. According to his SALN, he has P631.7 million total assets, including real properties in Makati City, Batangas, Palawan, Camiguin, and Cagayan de Oro; and P200 million worth of liabilities.

Fifth is Villar’s sister, Senator Camille. She has a net worth of P362 million and no liabilities.

P200+ million club

Ranked sixth is Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson who has a net worth of P244.9 million. He has combined real and personal properties worth P256.7 million and declared liabilities of P11.8 million.

Closely behind him is Senator Robin Padilla who has a net worth of P244 million. It is a split of P100.5 million worth of real properties and P143.5 million worth of personal properties. He does not have any liabilities.

Senator Jinggoy Estrada comes next, having a net worth of P221.2 million. From this, his assets amount to P252.6 million, while his liabilities are P31.4 million.

The last senator with more than P200 million net worth is Senator Lito Lapid. His declared assets is P294.3 million, while his liabilities is P92.3 million, giving him a net worth of P202 million.

P100+ million net worth

The tenth richest senator is Senate President Tito Sotto, whose declared net worth is P188.8 million. He has P465.6 million worth of total assets and P276.7 million worth of liabilities.

Next is Estrada’s brother, Senator JV Ejercito. His declared net worth is P137 million, having total assets amounting to P179 million and liabilities worth P41.9 million.

Twelfth, and last senator to be worth hundreds of millions, is Senator Pia Cayetano whose net worth is P128.3 million; P151 million of which are assets and P12.7 million are liabilities.

Less than P100 million net worth

Senator Win Gatchalian has a net worth of P89.5 million, closely followed by Senator Bam Aquino with a net worth of P86.5 million, and Senator Loren Legarda whose net worth is P79.2 million.

At the lower end of the list are Senators Joel Villanueva with a net worth of P49.5 million, Bong Go with a net worth of P32.4 million, and Kiko Pangilinan with P26.7 million net worth.

Considered the “poorest” senators are Senators Risa Hontiveros whose declared net worth is P18.98 million and Chiz Escudero with a net worth of P18.84 million.
